2005-11-28 Fibrenetix Launches Qubex Storage Revolution
?We’re thinking ?inside the box’.  Qubex  delivers up to 3 Terabytes of storage capacity at broadcast quality at just  USD 2.00 per gigabyte’ - Jes Nagel,  Fibrenetix CEO
Qubex Raises The Bar For Desktop
Storage Systems
West Sussex, UK – November 28, 2005 - Storage pioneer Fibrenetix is set to launch a revolutionary ?affordable’ workstation RAID system aimed at the burgeoning broadcast, video and digital imaging markets.
The new 6-bay Qubex featuring high-performance 4GBit Fibre Channel or Ultra320 SCSI host connection, delivering up to 3 Terabytes of SATA-II RAID storage at a cost of approx. USD2.00 per gigabyte, is the culmination of months of research and development by Fibrenetix engineers.
Jes Nagel, Fibrenetix CEO said: “Workstation and workgroup storage is one of the fastest growing sectors in the industry  - so our Qubex development focus has been all about ?thinking inside the box’.  The emergence of HDTV in the broadcast world, booming video editing and post production houses, high end digital capture in the photographic market and the explosion of MP3 devices in the consumer arena have combined to create new and urgent demand for high performance, high capacity desktop storage at an affordable cost per gigabyte”
He added: “Qubex is the perfect storage solution in all those markets. The dual 4GBit Fibre channel host connection and SATA-II drives offer unbeatable performance, exceeding 300MB/s - more than sufficient to edit High Definition uncompressed video streams.
High definition TV and video editing is quickly becoming the new de facto standard in broadcasting and post production -  and Qubex , with its unrivalled performance and features is designed to meet these requirements.”
Qubex is easy to use, offers stylish design in a compact enclosure measuring just 12 inches (30cm) wide and operates with low noise to deliver outstanding storage capacity of up to 3 Terabytes.  The 6-bay unit features hot swap hard disks and guarantees no loss of data in the event of a disk drive failure.
The new unit can be configured using the onboard Ethernet connection, allowing remote configuration and monitoring via the Internet.
In another radical innovation, Fibrenetix engineers have virtually eliminated noise irritation.  Said Nagel: “We have all suffered from noisy PCs and RAID systems in the past.  To solve this problem, we developed the Qubex with an external power supply, so there is no longer an internal power source generating heat and causing noise.  We also incorporated a slow moving, whisper-quiet fan, making Qubex the perfect solution for any desktop.”
Qubex Key Features:
  • Up to 3TB storage capacity
  • Dual 4 GBit Fibre Channel host to SATA-II drives
  • Ultra320 SCSI host to SATA-II drives
  • Affordable price point (Approx. USD6,000 for a 3TB system)
